Mary Ellen Stuart, Chairperson

Mary Ellen has been involved with the John Henry Foundation since 2008 when her brother became a resident. During the course of her brother’s illness, she became educated in the various treatment program options. She witnessed what amazing things could be done by good organizations to truly benefit the lives of the mentally ill. Mary Ellen retired from her senior executive position with an international shipping corporation and joined the Board in January 2019. Her goal is to further the mission of The John Henry Foundation, with focus on enriching the lives of each resident.

She is a semi retired physician, specialized in general internal medicine and is an advocate for families and those living with severe mental illness. She has been very active with NAMI, (National Alliance on Mental Illness, currently the Greater LA County Chapter (GLAC), and has facilitated a weekly family support group for over 12 years.
